Job Description

Reducing the incidence and severity of injuries is a strategic priority for ACC and one of the many ways we help to improve lives every day.
ACC's vision is to create a unique partnership with every New Zealander, improving their quality of life by minimising the incidence and impact of injury. ACC is shifting the ways we work with New Zealanders to deliver meaningful support and guidance in the prevention, care and recovery from injury.
We are looking for both Advisors and Senior Advisors to join our Government Engagement and Support team. We have a mix of permanent and fixed-term roles available.
Reporting to the Manager Ministerial Services, you will be part of the team that provides the interface between ACC, the Minister for ACC and the Associate Minister for ACC.
As an Advisor/Senior Advisor in the Government Engagement and Support team, you will prepare high quality and timely advice for Ministers and Senior Managers, you will also prepare responses to ministerial correspondence and Official Information Act requests, and information for Select Committee hearings. Because our work can sometimes be complex and sensitive in nature, you will need to work with integrity and be able to adapt your style of your work accordingly. This role requires the ability to be self-aware, have political nous and inquisitiveness as well as a high level of professionalism.
As you will be liaising with the Minister's office regularly and working with ministerial correspondence, you will need to have a good grounding and understanding of the machinery of government and will genuinely want to upskill yourself with trends and issues in this space. This role will also see you working with teams across ACC, so your ability to work with others and build excellent working relationships is critical.
What we are looking for from you to be successful in this role:

significant experience in a similar role, providing advice and preparing high quality responses
the ability to work under pressure
great relationship management skills
excellent understanding of the machinery of government
knowledge of and experience in working with the Official Information Act, Ombudsman's guidance and the Privacy Act. Most of all we're looking for people who are passionate about supporting Ministers, are flexible and agile in approach, are good team players and have a genuine desire to learn more about working with Ministers.
